Friends of the Historic DACOR Bacon House

The DACOR Bacon House Foundation (DBHF) sponsors a Friends of the House program to support the preservation of the historic Bacon House and the collections of its museum. 


The Friends program is intended to create strong, mutually supportive relationships among preservation advocates, local history buffs, cultural patrons and museum visitors, in the exclusive setting of the beautiful, historic DACOR Bacon House. 

Contributions to the Friends program are attributed to the House Preservation Fund Endowment and are eligible for a charitable tax deduction.
 
Friends enjoy the following "Privileges of the House":

 

  • Entry to Bacon House during normal operating hours, to make use of the library and lounges
  • Access to guest sleeping rooms at DACOR Bacon House (additional fees apply)
  • Ability to host private events at the House and adjoining garden (additional fees apply)
  • Attendance at cocktail hours and selected cultural/culinary/social events (not focused on foreign affairs) at a special Friends rate 


Friends may subscribe to a special email distribution list, which includes a calendar of events at the House, and a periodic newsletter with information about recent efforts relating to House preservation and historical documentation.
 
The Foundation organizes at least one special event per year that is just for the Friends of the House. This could be an outing to a local cultural institution or a reception/meal function at Bacon House. Friends are surveyed annually to determine what type of event, if any, most appeals to them. 

Participants in the Friends program are those who would not qualify for membership in its sister organization DACOR, yet nonetheless share our values, vision, and especially the commitment to historic preservation and elevated foreign policy discourse, as Virginia Murray Bacon, the last private owner of the House, envisioned. 




Minimum Annual Contribution Levels for 2026: $1,000.00
