Sunday October 17 , 2010,  will feature mezzo-soprano Barbara Hollinshead, a DACOR favorite, who returns to sing with bass-baritone Steven Combs in a late nineteenth century program centering on the music of Gustav Mahler and his Des Knaben Wunderhorn (The Youth’s Magic Horn), as well as lieder by Johannes Brahms from his Opus 28 set, and a group by Samuel Barber.

November 14, 2010, the Sage Chamber Players will present an afternoon of the string and woodwind music of Felix Mendelssohn,  Igor Stravinsky,  Rebecca Clarke, and,  to highlight the program, Gabriel Fauré’s  2nd piano quartet. The Sage Players are violinists Hannah Eldridge and Nancy Jin, violist Kyung LeBlanc and clarinetist Joseph LeBlanc, who perform with the Washington National Opera, the Richmond Orchestra and the Marine Band, and ‘cellist Sean Neidlinger and pianist Jenifer Yeo.

December 5, 2010, closes the year with the women’s choral group Illuminare, led by director Vera Kochanowsky on harpsichord in a holiday program that will include Brahms’ rarely performed lieder for female voices, with pianist Steven Silverman. Bacon House will be decorated for the season, and we will offer our traditional mulled wine as refreshment along with the festive music.
